Inspiring Leadership: Carlos Mateos Jr. Shares His McDonald’s Journey with CEO Chris Kempczinski

We’re proud to share a special interview featuring our very own owner/operator, Carlos Mateos Jr., sitting down with McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski. In this heartfelt conversation, Carlos reflects on his family’s incredible journey with McDonald’s and the values that continue to inspire everything we do today.

Carlos shares on how his family first began their McDonald’s story and how his own love for the business started at the cash register, learning firsthand what it means to serve others with dedication and care. Over the years, that early experience has shaped his passion for helping others grow, both inside and outside the restaurants.

When asked about his favorite part of being an owner/operator, Carlos said it’s all about creating opportunities, helping people build skills, confidence, and careers they may not have imagined possible. It’s this commitment to people that continues to make the McDonald’s family so special!

Carlos also shared the best advice his father gave him, “Be the best. Nothing good worth having comes easy, and you will have to work hard for the good things in life.” These words are a powerful reminder of the values that guide our team every day, hard work, integrity, and the belief that success is built together.
